This gave me quite a scare. I had surfed over to the Aftonbladet video section after clicking a link on a friend’s Facebook status regarding the discussion between Alexander Stubb and Carl Bildt. Before the little video clip is a pre-roll commercial from a poker site. Can’t really do anything about the pre-roll itself so sat back and watched it until I get to the part where the lady goes “Hi Antti, nice to see you again”.
I knew the Swedes were good in digital marketing but this was a bit too much. “How the hell do they know my name?”, I went around thinking.
It seems there’s no dynamic content in the video and she just keeps on saying that. Nevertheless, haven’t felt this impressed and scared in a while. Have a look for yourself.
Watched a terrific TED talk by Jamie Oliver yesterday that inspired me to think totally different about many industries. Jamie’s talk is about food education and the fact that people are becoming obese as they don’t understand the ingredients they are consuming and what this combination does to them.
“I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.” -Jamie Oliver
While many of the industries today are a reaction to many of the conditions out there and are through that creating huge businesses out of the opportunities – I believe there is a bigger opportunity missed by many: creating industries to proactively fight the possible out comes of our society today. Not many businesses go down this path as it’s harder to sell solutions to needs that haven’t been realised yet. Nevertheless, I believe there are a lot more opportunities in the food industry than just exercise and low fat alternatives that are out there today.
Martti Ahtisaari put it extremely well in his DLD10 talk with his son, Marko Ahtisaari, about equality in society. He said that “we men have to recognise how much is lost when everyone isn’t allowed to do what they are cabable of doing”.
Think of things differently – every fear/threat is also an opportunity in itself.
Decided to do a little video update on a documentary I saw last night, Afghanistan: On the dollar trail, by Paul Moreira. Great documentary, and I go through some of the points in the short video above.
