Nice advertisement from my old university in Lappeenranta on today’s Tekniikka&Talous paper. There’s this new university being created in the Helsinki area called Aalto University. It will combine the arts, technology and business universities into one large university – aiming to become one of the leading ones in the world. The Lappeenranta University of Technology has been combining business and technology since 1969 and they’re telling Aalto University to ring a friend if there are any hiccups.

Fantastic, positioning at its best. Well done LUT.

Hosting A Stream At Mindtrek 2009

I’ll be heading to Tampere (too!) early tomorrow morning. Why? One of the best Finnish conferences is being held there, Mindtrek. It’s a 2-day conference and will see some 800 people all together over the course of the two days. Needless to say I’m glad the conference has taken a big role towards promoting startups and emerging companies.

ArcticStartup is partnering with Mindtrek to host the Startup Launchpad at the event. We’ll kickstart the stream at 1pm and finish around 3.30pm. I’ll be hosting the stream, so don’t hesitate to come and say hello once were finished.

ArcticEvenings

We’ve organised ArcticEvenings, ~~small~~ relatively big gatherings of entrepreneurs and the scene alike, with the ArcticStartup posse. We organised our fifth event on Tuesday and they’ve become very successful here in Finland. We’ve also organised one in Tallinn that drew about 150 people to listen to the presentations. Next we’re organising one in Stockholm. Things are going well, needless to say. We’ve also met a very talented Teppo Hudson from CityVice TV who has done the following video edit to promote our events.

Interview with Tiburon-TV

Viktoria from Tiburon-TV did a small interview with me back in November at Slush Helsinki. We shot the interview outside and you can tell it’s freezing cold, luckily I was somehow able to keep my head straight in the below zero temperatures.
