Stanford Educators Corner

One of the best online education video resources I’ve found to date: The Stanford Educators Corner. A huge array of videos from world acknowledged speakers.

Strongly suggested.

All South Park episodes - available legally

South ParkSouth Park Studios has done something remarkable today. They have made all of South Park’s episodes availble on their website - to anyone in the world, not just the US. There have been numerous examples where movie studios and tv channels have given audiences the possibility to watch shows online, but they are usually limited to the national level, due to legal issues.

It will definitely be interesting to see how South Park’s success will pick up in the near future and what sort of traffic they will be reaching when all the pirate downloads are suddenly made obsolete.

Things that never happened…

You seldom find good stuff. Tonight I’ve found it I reckon. It rocks :)

Update: As the sharpest have realised the time of the post - I wasn’t at my best after a long night out. :)

The curious and the fundamentalist

“A fundamentalist is a person, who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith, before they explore it - as opposed to a curious person who explores first and then considers whether or not they want to accept the ratifications.”

By one of my favorite authors, Seth Godin.

Missed Jobs’ keynote?

Here it is, the 90 minute keynote in 60 seconds. Enjoy.

Happy ‘08!

I made a small video to wish you all a happy new year. The video is available in slightly better format at Vimeo.com.

I’ve been playing with Vimeo, the site the video is hosted on, and so far I can say it’s an incredible resource of amateur and professional video, with a different positioning compared to YouTube, but it rocks. If you’re into video, do check it out.

Convert YouTube videos to AVI/MOV

Vixy.net - convert youtube videos to mov/aviVixy.net is a cool simple service that lets you convert FLV files to AVI, MOV, 3GP, MP4 (for iPod/PSP) or MP3 rip. It means that you can convert YouTube videos to any of the formats listed above. The service requires the original URL and it sends you the readily converted file once it’s ready. It just became a lot more easier to embed videos into Keynote presentations. :)

Funky business

I’ve had a very interesting evening here in Paris tonight, meeting lots of different people. First I hooked up with the developer team of Seesmic in a small cafe. Interesting people definitely. From there we took a metro with StuffMC of Pomcast to OpenCoffeeClub meeting and met a bunch of interesting people there. For example, I got to hear some interesting future development plans regarding our very own Blogilista.fi. I decided to come back early though, to get a good night’s sleep and be in good condition tomorrow for the conference.

The thing that pretty much spawned from everyone I met today is the funky business atmosphere and attitude people have in this industry, even at the executive level. I mean take a look at Martin Varsavsky, CEO of FON and a very influential man, explaining his meeting with Steve Jobs, love the accent and attitude.

Testing out Seesmic

Seesmic

I was just testing out Seesmic and simply put, it’s pretty damn cool :) The whole community is so warming and welcoming after I posted my first video. Thanks to melissah, Christian and Mike who were the first to reply. There’s definitely a lot of potential in the service. One of the things that makes the whole user interface so easy and intuitive to use is the use of these ajaxy type of transitions from a feature to feature.

However, the biggest difference I see with the service is that it’s totally built from bottom up - meaning that the community gets to help in building the product and thus make it useful for the people from day one. If you haven’t seen them yet, have a look at Loïc’s interview on the Financial Times where he shares his ideas on this sort of company building.

Fourth videocast

I decided to do a quick videocast with my digital camera. Not too bad, but not too great either. Mind you, I hadn’t tested the video recording before so it turned out quite ok.
