This is pretty interesting – Chez Dominique, one of the gourmet restaurants in Helsinki will be going on a road trip to the unofficial summer capital of Finland – Savonlinna (and those are the restaurant founder’s Hans Välimäki’s words) for a week in July. Välimäki says that they have been invited to the festival plenty of times, but this time they couldn’t say no. They have a superb location for the visit, Restaurant Sarastro at Linnankatu 10 – just next to Olavinlinna, the medieval castle.

I’m guessing the real reason Välimäki couldn’t resist the invitation to be the economic slowdown. Whatever it is, it’s great to see some fresh ideas in my home town being developed for the summer.
