Pushing myself the second time

Here’s my map for saturday. I’m going to leave HKI at 3am and reach Savonlinna on the same day 21 hours later on my motorbike. The ride is called SS1000 – 1000 miles (1609km) in 24 hours. I’ll be showing the trip here on the blog on Saturday through Nokia’s Sportstracker live so do tune in to check out the course. Nokia has been kind enough to lent me a phone to put the service into a rigorous test and simultaneously see how the phone performs in extreme conditions. I’m using an N82 with 4 gigs of memory to plot those GPS points. Below is a short summary (it’s very close to the one I tried before, but failed due to a technical breakdown).

HKI @ 03:00
Turku @ 05:02
Tampere @ 06:55
Jyv?§skyl?§ @ 08:54
?Ñ?§nekoivisto @ 09:14
Alaj?§rvi @ 10:49
Vaasa @ 12:26
Kalajoki @ 14:49
Oulu @ 16:27
Vaala @ 17:33
Sukeva @ 18:55
Kuopio (north of) @ 20:19
Joensuu @ 21:54
Punkaharju @ 23:22
Savonlinna @ 23:52

Some might say it’s mad, but I enjoy pushing myself to the edge. That’s me. This time I’ve got a lot better bike to ride with and there shouldn’t be any problems with it. I’ll do the final checkups on it tomorrow before leaving, but at this moment – I’ve got the motivation, I’ve slept well the whole week and the weather’s looking sunny all the way.
