I personally haven' found real use for Qik so far, exept for some demos. But I must admit I belong to the immidiate publishers when it comes to photos and videos of my 8-month-old daughter, in my Flickr account w. family settings. The grandparents are already used to this service level and constantly monitor the site for new uploads :)

I'm all for the 'shoot it up there as soon as it happens'. It's really cool to know that you're actually out there doing just that when you see the post and wondering what might happen next, instead of looking at a holiday 'photo album'. I think immediacy is just so much more than posting videos online.

I believe you guys have a point, but I was sort of wondering of the mega trend when people constantly update photos and videos (and more their location) from whenever they have the chance to instead of waiting to come back home and then put the videos online (even unedited).

This is a big change in thinking I believe, because most of the population will not bother to update their web services during holiday and thus in some perspective would make these mobile sharing services obsolete.

But all in all, I believe I'll try to harness the power of the free Wifi's in Europe when travelling - the roaming services are simply too much. Shoot lots of video and then upload them once I get in touch with a free wifi - sort of an economical compromise in immediacy :)

Agree with Mikko - the value of immediacy depends on both your target group and the content. If you are giving information on current road conditions and local events to potential fellow travellers - get it out there asap. If you want to capture pretty pictures and add spoken commentary later on the editing boead - wait till you get back to your desk.

I think you should take a moment to consider your channel strategy. Provide immediate access via eg. Blip to unedited videos for your friends and family who want to follow your trip in real time. Then post the edited videos and embed them here once you get back, so that the rest can enjoy the highlights of your trip.

Just a quick thought.
