I got back from Germany last night after a long day of travelling. I managed to get a relaxing 3-hour sleep during the few hours of the morning before I took the local tram in Heidelberg to get the bus to Hahn airport. The RyanAir flight was full as expected (no point in flying empty planes when you’re a budget airline) and touched down in Tampere at around 17.30. The Pirkkala airport is pretty small and the baggage handling took ages! I drove home from Tampere and arrived in Lappeenranta around 10.30pm. Once again a big thank you to Arlette and her family for taking care of us – made the trip a very enjoyable one!
I will post some photos once I manage to download them from my camera – I only have 20 or so as I didn’t feel like playing a serious tourist. The trip was definitely worth it as it ended up costing me less than 200 euros, including the flights, domestic transportation (Finland + Germany), food and other entertainment – not bad for an extended weekend over the new year in Central Europe!
