Just a thought
August 31st, 2005I was just thinking, would the current catastrophy in Southern US make the people (at least around that area) more critical of the current US environmental policy and actually begin thinking of the results of not caring for the environment?
I hope they do - even if Katrina has no direct link to global warming, then again I’m sure global warming isn’t exactly helping the situation.

Sure it’ll make them think.
For maybe about a week. Month max. But when oil production comes back online and the city rebuilds, the lesson will be forgotten.
Until the next hurricane hits them. And then the next one. And then maybe someone will realize something.
You are full of BS, Antti Vilpponen! Katrina is natural phenomenon that has nothing to do with human negligence. Why does everything, even natural disasters, have to be blamed on American stupidity, eh?

It’s akin to saying, “I was just thinking, would the current toilet paper catastrophy in Finland make the people more critical of current Finnish personal hygiene and actually begin thinking of the results of caring for their chafed butts?”
Roxie, are you picking on me? :)
But seriously, America is #1 in CO2 pollution per capita - and I hope there is a change in that some time. That’s all I’m trying to say here - and I’m not saying that Katrina is a result of global warming, but events like this will be in the future if nothing changes.
That’s if global warming actually exists or if it’s really a fabricated notion, part of a liberal agenda……
JUST KIDDING!
