Google Talk
August 24th, 2005Google has launched it’s own IM-service Google Talk. It uses the Jabber protocol as a means of communication and happily it’s open source so it’s good news. The good things about this is that you don’t need to develop a whole set of clients for people to use, as there are a number of other clients readily available. The new thing that Google added was the VoIP calls, well new and new, but still.
I’m just wondering what Google will be trying to achieve through this? More integration with GMail to provide a better package to compete with MSN/Hotmail and Yahoo/YahooMail ? Time will tell…
