Spammers have attacked my blog during the last 2 days. Many comments were posted with links to porn sites. I downloaded the newest version of the MT-Blacklist database (or blacklist) and to my surprise the database had tripled since my previous download. Therefore I suggest to people using the add-on to update their databases as well.
I went berserk with my Nokia 7610 and decided to moblog visually our Juhannus - of course there could have been more text with the photos, but the Nokia 7610 isn’t really the best phone to type with - even though I have the T9 function in it (the phone guesses the word you are typing). Anyways, I’m off to my normal routine and will be blogging “normally” once again.
I will be doing my first shift as the reception clerk on thursday-friday night so looking forward to that as well. Let’s see if they have an internet connection available at the counter, that would mean some more nightblogging as the nights probably tend to be quite long - let’s wait and see.
ps. The summer is finally here! The temperatures even in Finland are above 20 degrees celsius!

Sorry… in Finnish:
Porvaritestin tulokset
Pikkuporvari
Pikkuporvari on kiltti ihminen. Hän pärjää koulussa hyvin ja hankkii hyvän työpaikan, kodin sekä perheen. Kiltteytensä takia hän harvoin nousee aivan johtavaan asemaan.
Pikkuporvari on ökyporvaria liberaalimpi, muttei missään nimessä radikaali. Hän toivoo muutosten olevan hitaita ja hallittuja. Ympäristön tilasta hän on huolissaan, mutta uskoo tiedemiesten ja poliitikkojen lopulta ratkaisevan ongelman. Opiskeluaika on hänen mielestään elämän parasta aikaa, jolloin kuuluukin ottaa hiukan rennommin. Koulutusta hän arvostaa suuresti.

TV license fees are one of the most annoying and to-become-obsolete payments of our time. I just read a report by Helsingin Sanomat that TV license fees are rising another 3,9% this year due to inflation. Inflation - what the hell?! Inflation in Finland according to Statistics Finland was 0,9% in 2003. It was also reported that more new people joined the voluntary but obligatory payment scheme last year.
I approve and enjoy YLE’s documentaries and shows a lot, but the payment scheme has to be redefined. It’s absolutely crazy to charge 193,95 € for one year for watching TV. This of course means that even though you don’t watch YLE’s shows at all and get your news from private TV channels, such as MTV3 or Nelonen, you still have to pay almost 200 euros for one year’s license.
I found out that in UK they pay £121 per year for TV licenses. That’s quite close to the Finnish payments, but they have a bit more respected company to support - the BBC. Of course there’s a difference in population that makes a big difference, but still it doesn’t justify the 3,9% increase in payments in the face of 0,9 % inflation.
YLE and the Finnish government really needs to find another way to charge for the money or cut down in expenses. In 5 to 10 years, most people will be watching other channels than those of YLE and the license fee is bound to be higher. This is just one good example of the stupid payments we Finns are forced to pay. Ok, the end result is good, but its still not justified.
Sometimes I just think that even though we are advanced technologically etc - we are still a very socialist country.

I’ve decided to switch to Bloglines after some thought. I’ve been feeling the same way as Danah did a while ago, when all the RSS feeds and blogs took over her life. Always when I see my RSS reader popping up in the corner I decide to open my reader and glimpse through the post. The problem of course is that I don’t really want or have time to carefully read through the post - unless its a short one.
Thinking about switching to bloglines - one of the reasons was that its now more of a pull service. I log on, when I have time to and read all the posts that interest me. Let’s see how this works. And other props go to Nelson who pointed out the Bloglines service once again.

What a day - 11 hours of building and constructing. In the morning, we managed to build the chimney to the top - took us 5 hours. In the afternoon we managed to finish of the roof (putting the strips of material-dunno the word in English).
Apologies for people with slow connections, but because of long days I haven’t managed to blog that much so I’ll tell the stories with photos.

The other side…

This side finished off today with the chimney - its almost 2 metres above the roof so we had to construct some support to finish it off…

And the very handsome construction guy :P
ps. Nelson - I’ll try and figure out the htaccess thing today ;)

Take the quiz: “Which American City Are You?”

San Francisco
Liberal and proud, you’ll live your lifestyle however you choose in the face of all that would supress you.
Ed: Now that made my day! :)

…from household sponge manufacturers of course! I noticed this the other day I opened our cupboard. Hilarious ;-) Does anybody have the secret for the Communicator or N-Gage?

If you read this site through an RSS reader, you might have noticed posts popping up all day. The reason for this has been my experimentation with different moblogging software. I posted my entries to my current blog (the one you are reading) from Mfop2.
The downside of using this excellent service is takes approximately 3 hours for the post to show up on my blog - I’m not sure of the reason yet. The service is absolutely excellent, enabling me to post my moblog stuff into my main blog under a moblog category. The only thing I’m wondering about right now is whether to keep the moblogged entries integrated with my current blog or create a new blog for them.
What do you guys think?
